A major food chain distributor required its mission critical financial systems to be upgraded. The problem was compounded by departmental financial islands of automation that were not communicating with each other electronically nor in a timely mannor. Hence, the data used by the corporate decision makers was not always complete nor up-to-date. A mechanism was installed that allowed these diverse islands to communicate with corporate office and update the data electronically in a timely fashion. The project success was realized at year-end as all financial data was current for budget approvals.
